Introduction to Tatum the Hopeful Chiropractor

     Hey everyone!

So my name is Tatum Chapman and I am currently a senior HES student. I plan on going to chiropractic school starting August of 2021. I actually just got accepted to Parker University in Dallas TX, so that dream is finally coming true. I came into college as an Architectural Engineering major, but like a lot of freshman I had no idea what I wanted to do. I've always been fascinated with the human body and how all the different muscles and bones work together, and I look forward to learning more about it and applying to everything I do. My favorite things to do are golfing, exercise, and just hanging out with people I like to be around. I have a 7 year old golden doodle who is the best dog I could ask for. I wish I lived somewhere in Norman that would allow me to bring him with me, but sadly I just have to make frequent trips home to see him. Haha I've recently gotten really big into coffee so if anyone has any good methods of brewing besides pour over and french press, I am all ears! I am from Moore, OK and plan on living here my whole life to be close to family and friends. I enjoyed growing up with my cousins and hope that my children get the same opportunity. I am excited for this class because I am an avid reader, but need to force myself to read different genres then I typically stick to. My usual books of choice are along the lines of spies and adventures. My favorite series of all time is the Alex Hawke series by Ted Bell. Reading stories about mythology and folklore will definitely help to broaden my horizons in ways I am not even aware of at the moment.

Favorite Book: Hawke by Ted Bell

  1. Hi Tatum! It was so fun getting to learn a little bit about you! That is so amazing how you just got accepted at Parker University in Dallas, TX for chiropractic school. I am sure you will do amazing! Also, I too came into college with a different major than I have now. As a freshman, I started out as nursing and now I am in advertising! Crazy world! I loved how you also shared about growing up in Moore and wanting to live there forever to be close to family and friends. All my family is from up north so I think it's so special y'all get to be so close. Plus I loved hearing about your pupper! So nice to meet you and good luck with this semester! :)

  2. Hi Tatum!

Congrats on your acceptance to Parker! It's so great that you'll be able to follow your dream into the chiropractic field. I also enjoy golf. I haven't had an opportunity to play for several years, but I did play golf for a year back when I was in middle school. I loved hearing about your favorite book series! If you haven't read them, I would suggest reading the "Alex Rider" series by Anthony Horowitz if you're interested. It's about a British teenage spy. I read a few in junior high, and I absolutely loved them! Your post is making me think about getting back into those books :)

  3. Hi Tatum!

I think it is awesome that you want to stay in Moore to be close to friends and family, and for your kids to have the same. I tease my parents all the time that I don't have any cousins or siblings my age and that they should have planned better! Congrats on your acceptance to chiropractic school! That is a big accomplishment! I also started out as a freshman with no idea what I wanted to do, but luckily I've found my way there (I am also a senior). Although, I definitely feel more comfortable in the humanities than the sciences! Good luck on your semester!

  4. Hi Tatum!

Congrats on getting accepted to Parker! One of my good friend's family has a chiropractic practice in OKC; its a great field to enter. Also, I love that you love Oklahoma and want to stay! I'm a true Okie and I love it here, and a lot of people think I'm crazy for that. Also, if you ever get the chance, you should put a pic of your dog on one of the blog posts for us to see- I'm obsessed with golden doodles!! Have a great semester :)

  5. Oh, this is so cool, Tatum! I was saying I could not remember meeting a future chiropractor in this class before when I was reading Robbie's post just now... and here I find your post! Super! Maybe the two of you can connect in this class too: Robbie's Intro - link. And I bet you can find some good ways to make spy and adventure story genres fit in with the storytelling in this class. Do you know the site TVTropes? It is basically all kinds of ideas for plot twist in different genres, and you could combine some of those ideas with the plots and characters you find in the old myths and legends, a kind of spy/adventure/espionage mash-up! Anyway, here's the Espionage Tropes link there at TVTropes... take a look and you'll see what I mean: themes like "leave no witnesses" or "swallow the key" are timeless tropes that you can use in all kinds of stories, ancient and modern! :-)

I am super into golf as well, I player all throughout high school and even had some offers to college but chose to attend OU instead. I hope to read more from you over the semester!

  8. Hi Tatum! Congrats on your acceptance to Parker University, that is so exciting. Also, when I saw that you had a golden doodle, my heart exploded! I have been wanting one, and begging my boyfriend for one for months. They are so cute. I don't know if you like iced/ cold coffee, but I have recently loved the Starbucks cold brew packets (super cheap on amazon and you brew them yourself in a pitcher in the fridge) but it's a good change up from normal coffee.

  9. Hello Tatum! A huge congrats to you for getting into your dream school, that is awesome! I wish I knew more about coffee for you, but I do have a friend who is a self-proclaimed barista and I could see if he has any suggestions! I am sorry that you are not able to have your puppy with you, that is so sad, but I am glad you do not live too far away because that is a special bond. Hope you have a great semester and stay safe!

  10. Hey Tatum, I've never heard of a golden doodle before so I, of course, looked it up and your dog is super cute! Personally, I really want to get a bull terrier because of their egg shaped heads, I think they're adorable. Likewise, I want to get a sphynx cat, aka the naked one's that look like rotisserie chickens, because I like to call them my little wrinkles. Also, I wish you luck in your dream school, and it ends up being everything you've wanted!

  11. Hey Tatum!! I would love to see a picture of your dog - I have three sweet pups at home and I miss them as well. To begin, congrats on chiropractor school!! That's incredible! Also, I am trying to get more into coffee, so I would love to hear more about your favorite types/ways to brew it.

  12. Hi Tatum!
I'm not familiar with HES major. What is that? Why you choose this major? It's so exciting when I heard you have a dog. Even though I also love to stay with some lovely animals too, but I always have too many things to do, so I do not have any pets for now. Maybe latter I would decide to have a pet, any suggestions?

  13. Hey Tatum, it’s nice to meet you. I’m also an HES major, so I understand where you’re coming from! I have a 2 year old Goldendoodle named Bailey, and she is crazy. They make such great pets, but I wish I had some of their energy! Good luck pursuing your chiropractic career. That’s awesome that you’re pursuing something you enjoy. It was nice to meet you!

  16. Hey, Tatum!

I really love how motivated you are! I also love how you're getting interested in coffee, as I have also begin to splurge on it and wanted to learn a lot more, considering my barista is a roommate and tells me all the tips & tricks! I'll let you know about those. I hope to keep indulging in your stories as the semester goes along, and I wish you the best of luck in your career goals!

  17. Hey Tatum!

Congratulations on getting into chiropractic school! That is so exciting that you will finally get to start the real journey of becoming a chiropractor. How do you feel? Golden doodles are so cute, especially when they’re tiny pups! Hopefully, you can post pictures of him somewhere on your blog! I also agree that this class will be beneficial for expanding my knowledge and experiences through different readings. It was nice to meet you and best of luck to you!

  18. Hi Tatum! Thats awesome you already got accepting into the school for chiropractic work. Congratulations! Im sure that takes a lot of hard work and perseverance to be able to do school like that. I also love to exercise and golf although I am not very good at golfing but practice makes perfect so maybe if I keep playing I will get better. Also love golden doodles, they are so cute.

  19. Hi Tatum! Nice to meet you, congrats on getting ready to graduate. Going to chiropractic school sounds like it is something that will be super interesting and fun. My favorite class in undergrad might have been anatomy with the human cadaver lab. It was so cool to learn exactly how the human body works and does what it does. Also, I am sure it is hard not being able to have your pup in Norman with you, but it is so nice to be able to be close to home and visit so often.

  20. Hi Tatum! I am an HES minor and I can say that the human body is what made me want to add it. I loved anatomy as much as I hated it. But, it did make me want to know more. Unfortunately I got sent home in the middle of the class (COVID quarantine I took it last spring). I am really excited to take it again in graduate school. I think it'll be just as interesting and I will learn just as much the second time around.

  21. Hi Tatum! It was cool to hear that you got accepted for further education after OU! Congratulations! That must feel incredible after going through the undergraduate journey. That is really neat that you enjoy golf! I actually played today--rather poorly to be honest but it was still a lot of fun. Best of luck as move on from OU! It was great to meet you.

  22. Hi Tatum,

First off, a huge congratulations on getting accepted to chiropractor school! If there's anything the world needs more of, it is a chiropractor. When I was in middle school, I sustained a bad back injury and it was the wondrous work of the chiropractor that I went to that I am back in tip-top conditions and it never came back. I also absolutely love watching chiropractor videos as the cracks are so satisfying. I wish I can just do that to my friends for the sake of satisfaction, but without training, I'm afraid I will send them to the emergency room or something of sort. I look forward to reading more from you in the future!

  23. Hi Tatum,

Congratulations on getting into chiropractor school! I definitely saw the Ted Bell and absolutely thought Taco Bell LOL. I grew up with my cousins as well. I agree that I would hope that my kids have that experience as well. I think family is so important. I hope you have a great time in chiropractor school and hope you have a great end of the semester.

  24. Hi Tatum! I think it's so cool that you're going to be a chiropractor and congrats on getting accepted into the program! I too am an avid reader, and I highly suggest checking out "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak for a change from your usual genre, but still something along those lines. I hope you're having a great semester!

  25. Hi Tatum!
Congratulations into getting in the program, you are going to be chiropractor!!! I wonder what made you choose this field of study. Have you always liked to know how human body work ? or someone got you into it? I hope you are enjoying your major classes and this one, despite the COVID situation. Wish you good luck for the rest of the semester. Pleasure to meet you.

  26. Hi Tatum! Congratulations on graduating college this year! HES is a hard major to accomplish with all of the science involved (I am also a HES major myself), but you have accomplished a great deal of work and even got into the college you wanted to! Dallas is a beautiful area, so I'm sure you'll love it there! Anyways, it was very nice to meet you and good luck in your future plans!
